Baffin Fisheries Appoints New President
Iqaluit, Nunavut, Sept. 6, 2024 – Baffin Fisheries is pleased to announce the appointment of Kavavow Mikijuk as President of Niqitaq Fisheries and Baffin Fisheries, effective September 3, 2024. Kavavow has served as Crewing Manager for Baffin Fisheries for eight years and has more than 17 years experience in the fishing industry, particularly with the Nunavut Fishing Marine Training Consortium.
“We are thrilled to have Kavavow join the senior executive team,” said Baffin Fisheries Board Chair Kelly Kilabuk. “Kavavow brings a wealth of experience from the crewing side and vessel operations, and he will be well supported and mentored as he takes on more and more responsibilities in this leadership role. I look forward to Kavavow guiding the Company and enhancing our Inuit corporate culture as Baffin Fisheries grows and prospers.”
Kavavow will continue to be based in Iqaluit, where he will prioritize the expansion of the Nunavut team of managers and support staff.

Background
Baffin Fisheries was incorporated on Nov. 6, 2001. Today the Company is the leading commercial fishing enterprise in Northern Canada, harvesting more than 10,000 tonnes of Greenland Halibut (turbot) and cold-water shrimp annually. Baffin Fisheries’ wholly owned subsidiary Baffin Seafood ApS markets its products around the world.
BF is owned by five Inuit Hunters and Trappers Associations: Amarok HTA (Iqaluit), Pangnirtung HTA (Pangnirtung), Mayukalik HTA (Kimmirut), Mittimatalik HTA (Pond Inlet), and Nangmautaq HTA (Clyde River).
